Dr. Jeffrey Berkley was born in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his undergraduate education in three years, graduating the University of Illinois with honors. He attended the University of Illinois Dental School, graduating as Valedictorian. Dr. Berkley completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Sinai Hospital in Detroit, noted as one of the finest training programs. He then entered into private practice in 1987 in New Haven.
Dr. Berkley is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He has been recognized for his clinical excellence with numerous awards, including Omnicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, Alpha Omega Award for Excellence in Scholarship, Platinum Partner Award from Nobel Biocare, Platinum Preferred Recognition Award from Implant Innovations Inc., “America’s Top Dentists” in Oral, Maxillofacial & Implant Surgery, "Top Oral Surgeons in CT" by Connecticut Magazine, and Attending of the Year in St Raphael’s Hospital Oral Residency program. Dr. Berkley has lectured on numerous topics in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a founder of the Elite Study Club, which promotes advanced dental education. Dr. Berkley has been a pioneer in advancing new techniques in Connecticut, where he was among the first to perform rigid fixation in orthognathic surgery, TMJ arthroscopy, laser surgery for cosmetic and oral surgery procedures, and guided tissue regeneration. Dr. Berkley teaches in the residency programs at Yale New Haven Hospital and the Hospital of St. Raphael’s, both in New Haven, and St. Luke’s Hospital in Manhattan. He is Chief of the Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service at Midstate Medical Center.
As a dedicated father of four, Dr. Berkley has many interests outside of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He enjoys tennis, gardening, weight training, cycling, and chess.
