Meet Dr. Romeo

Dr. Gerardo Romeo is a Board Certified dual-degree Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He is a native New Yorker with a fond love of southern Connecticut. He trained at the Hospital of Saint Raphael and Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven. In addition to his training as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, he completed advanced subspecialty fellowship training and holds a certificate of advanced qualification from the ABOMS in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery.

Since completing fellowship in 2012, Dr. Romeo has devoted himself to taking care of patients and teaching future dentists and oral and maxillofacial surgeons in world class institutions. He has served as full-time faculty, as residency program director, as division chief of oral and maxillofacial surgery for a major medical system and as medical director for a multidisciplinary specialty care team for children and adults with facial differences. His surgical scope is broad having successfully treated patients with various needs from routine oral and dental surgery to advanced skeletal facial surgeries for facial differences, facial trauma, and removal and reconstruction of benign cysts and tumors of the jaws. All of these experiences have provided Dr. Romeo with both the perspective and the insight necessary to take great care of all types of patients. 

Dr. Romeo attended Adelphi University for his undergraduate education and then went on to graduate from Stony Brook University with his degree in Dentistry and Drexel University with is degree in medicine. He completed his advanced training in Cleft/Craniomaxillofacial Surgery and Pediatric OMS at the University of Pittsburgh/Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He is an active member of multiple associations where he serves and has served on various regional and national committees. He has lectured and authored various articles and book chapters on topics in cleft, craniomaxillofacial and oral and maxillofacial surgery. 

CERTIFICATIONS:

Dr. Romeo is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

PERSONAL:

In his free time, Dr. Romeo enjoys the beach and the great outdoors with his family. He also enjoys volunteering abroad on surgical mission trips to treat under-resourced and underprivileged children and adults with cleft lip and cleft palate needs in Latin America.
